Find the Flashcard
Take a set of flashcards and lay them face down on the floor, just like with the Pelmonism game (except this time all the FCs are different).
WHITEBOARD
Team A Team B
#1s FC FC #1s
#2s FC FC #2s
#3s FC #3s
#4s FC FC #4s
#5s FC FC FC #5s
#6s FC FC #6s
This game can be played in two ways. The first is quite chaotic and is not recommended for the feistiest of classes. In this game you get one student from each team to come to the front; the teacher then names a flashcard (e.g., [“go paintballing”]) and shouts, “5,4,3,2,1 ... find!” The students then scramble around the floor trying to find the said FC. The first student to return to the teacher with this FC in hand is the winner and thus is awarded points for their team. The game then continues with the teacher naming another FC (e.g., [“fly a kite”]) and saying “Find!” again; with either the same two students or a different two scrambling around once again to find the new FC.
The second way to play this game follows the same basic pattern but this time each student calmly takes it in turns to turn over one FC at a time. The first student to find the FC is the winner, the FCs are then shuffled around and the game starts up again; either with the same two students or a different two. In this game you can also choose not to shuffle the FCs so that the game works in a similar way to Pelmonism with students remembering where the FCs are.
