Slowly Reveal

 Slowly Reveal

This is another simple game. The teacher stands at the front with the wad of FCs in their hand, showing each FC one at a time, much like with the Random Card game.

The students by this point have to be familiar with the FC vocabulary, and especially with the pictures on the FCs.

In this game the FCs are very slowly revealed by the teacher, and the first student to recognise and shout out what the FC is can win points for their team.

Let us say for example that the FCs are for ailments: a fever, a sore throat, a cold, a headache, an earache, etc.

The teacher stands at the front holding the flashcards. The top flashcard is [a cough] but all the students know this; what is more important is what is underneath. The students are all focussed, watching the teacher slowly slide the top flashcard down. Suddenly, recognising the partially revealed picture, the #4s from team A shouts out, “[A headache!]”

Well done,” says the teacher, awarding points to team A (or moving that team one space along the scoring system).

The top flashcard is now [a headache] but all the students of course know this; what is more important is what is underneath. The students are all focussed, watching the teacher slowly slide the top flashcard down. …

To add an extra difficulty to the game, the teacher can sometimes put FCs upside down in the pile.
